Lockdown

a film by Koen Van Sande

15 minutes - 2017 - Belgium

When Louis picks up his son from a play date at their Moroccan neighbors’ house, the street is put under lockdown and he is forced to stay put. But who are they looking for? And why is everyone behaving with such secrecy?
Like a hunted deer Louis is looking for a way out of a world he doesn’t know.

Koen Van Sande

After successfully finishing his studies as a film director at the R.I.T.S. in Brussels in 1998 with the award winning short WES, Koen Van Sande focussed on a postgraduate in screenwriting. When returning from a writing workshop at Columbia University, New York, he started working as a freelance director for Belgian television.

He created top rated reality shows and became a showrunner. In 2005 Kanakna engaged him to direct and write fiction series such as 16+ and De Vijfhoek. He went on as the executive producer of the daily soap Familie and the crime series Zone Stad for Studio A.
In 2013 Koen started focussing more on fiction. With production company ‘Cartouche’ he made a few well received short films: ‘Research’ in 2014 (Raindance, Chelsea, In the Palace, ...) and Cracks (original title ‘Barst’) in 2015 (Montreal, Tampere, FEST-New Directors, Ensors Oostende, ...).

In 2017 his first short film funded by the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF) became a fact. 2018 looks promising with a new prime time fiction series called The kidnapping of Phil Frisco, produced by Cartouche for VTM television channel. Koen is co-writer and co-director.
